Officially established in 2022, PMW offers refurbishing, rebuilding and modification services for your 1990s or 2000s-era bicycles.
Disc brake conversions, 27.5/650b conversions, modernized drivetrains, gravel conversions and many other possibilities are available for neglected bicycles, whether you've owned it for 20+ years or just picked it up for cheap somewhere else and want to upgrade.
The beauty of many bikes from these eras are the flexibility they offer. With careful parts selection and some creativity, that old dad bike out in the garage can accept many of the newer component standards, bringing it into the current decade. Whether it's a frame-up rebuild where everything gets replaced, or a few effective part swaps to keep the budget low, you can breathe new life into older bikes.
These are exactly the types of bikes I love to build and ride. Taking something that could be 30 years old and making it as modern as possible can be a very fulfilling exercise. My favorite bicycle activity is building the exact bike for an exact purpose. What you end up with may not appeal to everyone, but it will do exactly what YOU want it to do, in the way YOU want to do it.
Much of the cycling industry is focused on precision and marginal gains at this point. I like to focus instead on what is technically possible when you get creative with older parts and older bikes. A lot of this stuff is just cable-actuated levers and pulleys that can be bent to your will in many cases, no matter what the manufacturer says is compatible with what. Whether you're looking to revitalize the first MTB you ever owned, create the ultimate commuter or singletrack cruiser, or frankenstein the rat bike singlespeed pub bike you've dreamed about for years, there is always a way.
